The Challenge to Succeed by Jim Rohn

It is a challenge to succeed. If it were not, I'm sure more people would be successful, but for every person who is enjoying the fruit from the tree of success, many more are examining the roots... They are trying to figure it all out. They are mystified and perplexed by what seems to be some strange, complex, and elusive secret that must be found if ever success is to be enjoyed.

And yet while most people spend the majority of their lives struggling to earn a living, a much smaller number seem to have everything going their way. Instead of just earning a living, the smaller group is busily engaged in designing and enjoying a fortune. Everything just seems to work out for them. While the much larger group sits in awe at how life can be so unfair, complicated, and unjust.

"I am a nice person," the man says to himself. "How come this other guy is happy and prosperous, and I'm always struggling?" He asks himself, "I am a good husband, a good father, and a good worker. How come nothing seems to work out for me? Life just isn't fair. I'm even smarter and willing to work harder than some of these other people who just seem to have everything going their way," he says as he slumps into the sofa to watch another evening of television.

But you see, you've got to be more than a good person and a good worker. You've got to become a good planner, and a good dreamer. You've got to see the future finished in advance. You've got to put in the long hours and put up with the setbacks and the disappointments. You've got to learn to enjoy the process of disciplines and of putting yourself through the paces of doing the uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable. You've got to be prepared and willing to attack the challenges if you want the success because challenges are part of success.

Now that may sound like a full menu of activities, but let me assure you that the process of going from average to fortune isn't really all that difficult. Thinking about it is the difficult part. Anticipating all the effort and the changes and the disciplines is far worse in the mind than in reality. I can promise you that the challenges you'll meet on the road to success are far less difficult to deal with than the struggles and the disappointments that come from being average. Confronting and overcoming challenges is an exhilarating experience. It does something to feed the soul and the mind. It makes you more than you were before. It strengthens the mental muscles and enables you to become better prepared for the next challenge.

I've often said that to have more, we must first become more, and to become more, we must begin the process of working harder on ourselves than we do on anything else. But in addition to gathering new knowledge, new skills and new experiences, it is also important to discover new emotions. It is how we feel about what we know that makes the biggest difference in how our lives turn out. How we feel about the chances we have and the choices we have determines the intensity of our effort. Whether we try or don't try. Join or don't join. Believe or don't believe.
I'd like for you to discover some strong feelings about your life and about what you want to do with that life. You probably have much of the knowledge and a lot of the experience and perhaps most of the skills that it takes to become successful. What you may be lacking in are the strong feelings about what you want and what you want to do. You may be one of those who have become so involved in the process of earning a living that you've forgotten about the choices and the chances you have for designing your own life.

Let these strong feelings help you take a second look at your life and where you're headed. After all, you've only got one life on this planet... So why not make it an adventure in achievement? Why not discover what all you can do and what all you can have? Why not discover how many others you can help and in the process how that can help you?
Why not take the challenge to succeed?

How to find prospects (Or get off your butt and start walking!)

One of the biggest complaints in network marketing is" how do I find people to be interested in my opportunity?"  I think that most people, who are doing network marketing, in addition to their regular income, have a daily routine. They get into their car, drive to work, see the same people at work, then drive home. You talk about their opportunity to the people at work, but unless you work in large company, you maximize
yourself after a short period of time with your co-workers.

First, if you work in a large building, go for a walk around the building! Talk to people who are not in your
department. Go to the bathroom, go to the water cooler, coffee corner somewhere else in your building. Don’t limit yourself to only your specific area in your office.  If you eat lunch with the same people all the time, maybe it's time to start looking to eat lunch in other areas. Start a conversation with strangers.

How about a carpool? Instead of driving by yourself, find yourself one or more people with whom to carpool, you will have someone new to talk to. Occasionally, take a bus, train. If you commute on public transportation get off a stop or two earlier  and walk to work. When taking public transportation, you can strike up a conversation with someone which might lead to talking about your opportunity. Most people don't exercise enough and a few minutes a day with a nice walk will do your mental and physical health a lot of good. It's a nice way to save some money or let your wife have the car for the day!

If you buy your newspaper or coffee from the same store every day, go into a different store once in a while.
Walk around your neighborhood instead of driving. Walk with your kids to their play dates, or after school activities. Talk to the neighbors, talk to the people walking their dog. Talk to the other parents bringing their kids. If they live in your neighborhood and they see you walking around enough, you might build familiarity with your neighbors and they will build a trust with you.

Finally, volunteer. Teach little league (see " The World Greatest Networker" ), work with kids, old people, animal shelter. Whatever you think is interesting, even if you don't know how to do it. When you volunteer, you feel good, giving of yourself to help other people who are more misfortunate. Every network marketer who is successful, has a pet charity project that enjoys the benefits of their success. They know that the more you give the more you receive.

In conclusion, to find more prospects you have to give yourself more exposure. All it takes is looking at your surroundings with a fresh outlook. It's not recommended to immediately discuss your opportunity until you make yourself believable and trustworthy  to the person you are talking to. Tell a story, give then give them a promotional material, or sample them a product. Get back to them after a few days, get feedback.

There are 85,000 versions...

There are 85,000 version of audios books on Amazon.com. The topics vary from Biographies to teens, travel fiction to personal development. Some of the autobiographies are even read by the person who wrote them (Dick Van Dyke, Rob Lowe, Tina Fey).

Audio books is a fancy new name for an activity that has been around since the Radio. When the radio first came into the homes, there were many programs where classics were read to the listeners. Picture the family sitting around the old radio listening to their favorite stories while mom is doing her mending or knitting and dad is smoking his pipe, the children sitting on the floor all listening to the latest chapter.

Some people might picture a little blind old lady listening to the audio book with a small dog in her lap enjoying the latest thriller which she can't read due to her blindness.

Today you are more likely to find the person listening to the audio book a female college graduate who is listening to her audio book on an MP3 player while jogging at the gym, or in her disk player in her car while on her way to work.

Today's society most people are in a rush, it's hard to find someone who wants to sit back and enjoy a good paper book. Some people have decided that the easiest way to enjoy a good book is by listening to it.

With modern technology many more people are  embracing  the concept of listening to audio books online and with the widespread availability of such books; the future is really looking rosy for those who are producing audio books.

2 words that scream "network marketing scam"

Word #1: probably the biggest scam ever run on people in MLM network marketing is the POWERLINE.
The worst thing you can ever do building your business is to create fear of loss. It's the worst way to build your business. Oh, yes, it definitely works - to get people in. But you have a totally false business, because you've got a bunch of people, and none of them ever does anything.

Word #2: Many companies that do a powerline - or even a binary or a matrix - focus their promotion talk on SPILLOVER.. Now, I have met people who have gotten spillover, definitely. BUT - none of the people that were spilled over on them ever did anything! Why?
Because the promise of "spillover" creates a welfare mentality. What happens when you tell people, "Oh, get in NOW, and you are going to get spillover!"
They're afraid of losing something for nothing. So they do get in now - and then they sit and wait for all that spillover to make them rich.

Isn't That A Wonderful Business Plan?
It's like joining a binary because you can get a position that already has $1 million volume in the strong leg. The reality is, you don't make a dime, unless you build the weak leg, But people get so worked up about losing that "$1 million position", they join - and never do anything, and never earn any income.
So never forget those words, powerline & spillover. Anytime you see them, their purpose is to promote the welfare mentality. Something for nothing, something for nothing, something for nothing.

The fact is, you are in network marketing. Network marketing is a business that takes work. It's net-work marketing, ok? it's not net-free marketing. It's not net-spillover marketing. It's not net-zero marketing, it takes work. Anything you do that promotes the "something for nothing" mindset will not work. End of story.

But you will draw in a bunch of couch potatoes who are convinced that you are going to build it for them. Matter of fact, you can even give them your bank account number, and you'll just pass the money directly to their account. They don't have to leave the couch. They can stay on the couch, drink their beer and watch a football game. No problem.
Use Those Two Words As A Tip

Whatever company or whatever distributor is saying them to you, that is not the company or the person you want to depend on long-term. They will not be successful. Keep on looking. There are lots of good companies & MLMers out there. Keep looking, and you'll find the right mentor.

Do you want a new BMW?

Everyone knows that in advertising you have to target your market. Car manufacturers have target markets, they have upscale cars for the wealthy (or wannabe wealthy), minivans for families, and compact cars for those just starting out.

BMW would not advertise in "Good Housekeeping" or "Martha Stewart" but you would find advertisements for BMW in"GQ" and "Sports Illustrated".

It is the same with network marketers. We need to target a specific market. You don't want to waste your time on someone who knows nothing about the business, but someone who know that network marketing is WORK. It helps if you have a good system that finds qualified people.

Personally, I think a system that targets "frustrated MLMers" has a good chance to be successful. Having mentors that have been in this business for over 30 years, I can't imagine a world where there aren't a ton of frustrated MLMers , such as myself, that are looking for a solution to their problems. And trust me, that is one VERY hot market.

Plus, of course, it is the exact market targeted by "Success In 10 Steps."
There are two types of people in the world, those frustrated network marketers who stay frustrated or quit, or those who are frustrated and do something about it.
What is going to be easier for you? It’s only a click away.
